Epic Games has announced the creation of a “warm-up tournament” in anticipation of the World Cup of Fornite, between 6 and 7 April.

As the name suggests, the “Warmup” will follow the Open World tournaments of the World Cup of Fortnite, starting from April 13th.

The Fortnite World Cup Warmup will offer a prize pool of $ 500K which, according to the developer, will include a “much wider distribution of prizes than in previous weeks”.

The semi-finals of Warmnment World Cup Warmup will be held on Saturday 6 April during a three-hour window.

Fortnite includes a mode called Arena, in which each player receives a degree. Everyone goes from Open League (Division One) to Champion League (Division Seven) earning “Hype” points.

Any Duo (team equipped with two) that has reached the Six Division, ie the Contender’s League, in Arena mode can participate in the World Cup semi-finals. The first 1,500 Duos in each region will advance to the Finals on Sunday 7 April.

Each weekly qualification will award $ 1 million in total prizes, which will be distributed “in general” to participants, according to a statement.

Epic Games will publish the rules of this new competition later this week while the Provided World Cup will be held in New York from July 26th to 28th and will offer a prize pool of $ 30 million, the highest jackpot ever funded by developers in the history of esport.
